| A stroll through the white washed streets with their nooks and crannies, the patios, the hermitages… the village conserves the tranquillity and enchantment of the past, sheltered by the mountain range and looking out towards the countryside and the sea. |

There are various interesting monuments such as the Bull-ring, different from all others due to its original oval shape. There are also two mudejar style churches: the ParishChurch, built on the ruins of an old |

mosque and castle between the years 1541-65, and the San Sebastian Shrine built at the end of the XVII century.
Another interesting point is the Shrine of the Virgen de la Peña (Virgin of the Rock), Patron Saint of the Town, excavated in a rock around the year 1682. |

Art
From the fifties, Mijas has captivated many artists, nationals and foreigners, as painters, sculptors, artistic ceramists and photographers.
They choose this place because they found a perfect atmosphere to make their works- especially thanks to the
light, the artistic atmosphere and the great support they get from the town hall, having to their disposal showrooms for exhibitions, art contests organisations and many more artistic activities in general.
